The proper grip is not the interlock, the overlap, or the unconnected baseball, 10 finger grip. The proper grip can be any of these is it is applies properly.
The first thing to know about the proper grip is that your top hand should grip the club mostly across the bottom of the fingers and not in the fingers at all. The “v” between the index finger and the thumb should point directly back at the golfer with the thumb pointing down towards the head of the club.
The second thing to know about the proper grip is that your bottom hand should grip the club mostly in the fingers between the first and second knuckles. The index finger should wrap around the club like a hook and meet with the thumb. The “V” between the thumb and index finger should point in the same direction as the top hand “v” does as well.
The last thing to know about the proper grip is that you cannot grip the club to firmly or too loosely. A stronger, more firm grip will work better for you than a loose grip, but you really need to find a comfortable and controlled grip somewhere between a firm and loose grip that will work best for you.
There is not such thing as a proper grip that is universal. Every golfer has their own twist on the grips that are out there.
