How do you hit good golf shots from different sloping lies?
RE: Golf
I think I know the basics in terms of stance, swing, etc. when hitting shots from flat lies (i.e. on the driving range). Where I am having trouble is when I am hitting off of slopes, e.g.:
– Downward sloping
– Upward sloping
– Sidewards sloping, with the ball higher than my feet
– Sidewards sloping, with the ball lower than my feet
What should my stance and swing be like in each of the above four scenarios? Appreciate any advice from any golf gurus out there.

The books can give you the basics, the rest is up to you.
my favorite video on all different shots is Jack Nicklaus- [Golf my Way]. you will not see it taught anywhere better!
The Range is only good for some things….the rest comes from experience on the course….And personal experience is a better teacher than tips from folks you don’t know.
For upwards or downwards slopes, align your hips and shoulders as best you can to the slope of the hill at address, thus enabling you to swing with the slope instead of fighting it.
For a side hill lie with the ball above your feet, move your weight a bit towards your heels and choke up on the club a bit. Align the ball towards the heel of the club at address as gravity will tend to pull the club towards you from this type lie. Visualize making a baseball type motion and stay tall through the swing. Generally speaking you’ll want to aim a bit right of the target to compensate for the hill as well.
For a ball below your feet, feel your weight towards your toes, align the ball a bit more towards the toe of the clubface to start and key on staying down on the shot. Aim left of the target as the ball tends to move right from this type lie.
Good luck!
Listen to Golflectual…he seems to know what he’s talking about.
The basics with all of those shots is maintaining your spine angle and balance, like with all golf shots. This is most important, in my opinion, on a shot below your feet. I have trouble maintaining my balance on that shot.
