What does a pro shop attendant at a golf course do?

Hey there,
I saw an advertisement for a pro shop attendant position at a golf course. What are the duties that an attendant does there? The pay is 8.50 an hour…so is it really that hard to do?

i work in golf course maintenance so i am at a golf course a lot during the summer when it is open. the pro shop people are usually just working the cash register for golfers. so as long as you can work a computer you should be fine.

Depending on whether the club is public or private has a large active membership or small exclusive one, the duties will vary. At a public course you may assign starting times over the phone, collect greens fees, collect for and assign carts to players, sell merchandise, etc. The duties would be similar at a private club but you would be expected to get the players clubs out of storage and placed on carts, sign in guests for the member’s account. The hours may be quite long or restricted to avoid overtime compensation.

many years experience food beverage manager at golf courses. pro shop attendants are basically very knowledgeable cashiers/salespeople. the job is really not that difficult. you will have to have the ability to ignore whining and snivelling from golfers who think they are better than they every will be. weekends are the worst stress wise. you have to listen to people complain to you about slow play, the green keeping staff. the positions of the pins. unlimited insane stupid babble. golfers also show total disrespect to women. the most guilty are seniors. total ignorant disrespect. this is true at every golf club, private or public. people who play golf have to buy there way into a club. they are not great athletes yet they really do be live they are. another option at the same rate of hourly wage. beverage cart person. you will meet the same people in better moods, plus the tips are very very good. in my sixties retired. if the choice was mine . beverage attendant over pro shop attendant. the pro shop position may not be as bad as described. has it great points. if year long position take it. if beverage/pro shop part time go for beverage , or dinning room staff. good luck.

It’s easy. You just answer the phone and do the register. You will have a lot of free time on your hands.
