What is the most basic volkswagan golf mk1?

Im looking to get a mk1 golf as my first car because i think there awsome. but ive been looking around but i cant seem to find the most basic model to keep my insurance down. Ive found a 1.1 gls but that is the lowest ive found. Is there a lower model? Thanks in advanced.

    You must not be in the states,here the very first A1s were in 1975, they had a 1.6 in them, shortly after they went to the 1.7,which ran until 1984 went to the 1.8.But they should all have low insuarance rates on the, the GTI and GLI were the only performance models
