Simple Golf Putting Tips-Six Tips to Help Make More Putts Part 1!

The most important shot in golf is the putt, this is where a lot of people can either save strokes or can inflate their score. Unfortunately, most people when they go to the practice range only focus on the swing and how far they can hit their drives. But most of the good golfers with the low handicaps will spend 80% of their time working on their short game including putting.

Putting it is a fine art and has a lot to do with feel. If you can master putting you can save strokes and really lower your score and handicap. You can turn that bogey into a par or that double bogey into a bogey by sinking more putts. We will give you 6 tips to help you improve your putting that you can start using them today.

Tip Number 1-Get the Ball to the Hole

This tip is actually pretty simple because if you do not give the ball to the hole than it will not go in the cup. Many pros say to aim 18 inches behind the hole and I agree with this somewhat depending on the speed of the greens, but if you are putting or green that is fast you may want a scale that back to 6 inches. The last thing you want to do is have a 5 foot putt coming back so you want to make sure that even if you missed the putt you have a tap in.

Tip Number 2-Aim to the High Side of the Cup

If you have a putt that is going to break right or left always make sure that you aim little bit further to the high side of the putt. If you do not aim to the high side enough you will miss the putt before even gets to the hole but if you do aim to the high side you give yourself an opportunity to make the putt as is breaking down.

Tip Number3-Pick a Spot for Your Ball

When you have read the green and you have picked out a line place the ball on the green and pick out a spot 6 inches in front of the ball and look at that spot when you putt. This will ensure that you follow through on your putt and you want to see the ball roll over the spot that you are looking at. People who look at the ball while they are putting have a tendency to stop your putter head short leaving the ball in front of the hole. You want to make sure that you have a solid follow through, this will give you your best chance to make clean impact with the golf ball.

You just read three putting tips that can help you improve your game and lower your score. Putting can be one of most simple aspects of the golf game but at the same time can be one of the most difficult to master. In the next article we will take a look at three more tips that will help you when you are putting.
